Barrier Free Canada – Canada Sans Barrieres – Donna Jodhan Advocacy Award
Barrier Free Canada – Canada Sans Barrieres is pleased to announce the Donna Jodhan Advocacy Award. Donna Jodhan is the founder of Barrier Free Canada and is a strong advocate for persons with disabilities.
This award category recognizes individuals in our community who have demonstrated superior and outstanding advocacy over several years.
The Donna Jodhan Advocacy award is meant to recognize an individual who has furthered the advancement and support of the rights of persons with disabilities within Canada through respectful leadership and activism.
Please expect another announcement that will include the call for nominations and the criteria for this award shortly after Labor Day.
Barrier Free Canada – Canada Sans Barrieres – Barrier Free Business Award
Barrier Free Canada – Canada Sans Barrieres is also pleased to announce the second year for the Barrier Free Business Award!
Last year we were pleased to present this award to Fable Tech Labs Inc.
This award is meant to identify a business that has gone above and beyond to ensure its physical space and policies and procedures exceeds accessibility expectations and requirements.
Looking at both the built environment as well as the inclusive atmosphere created with the specific intention to ensure it is welcoming to ALL Canadians including those living with disabilities.
The barrier free business award is a recognition that identifies businesses and organizations operating in Canada that go above and beyond to demonstrate commitment to accessibility and the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Businesses nominated for this award must have a physical location exceeding accessibility design standard minimums and exemplifies leadership in providing opportunities for individuals living with disabilities. Each year this award will be given out on December 3 to coincide with International Day of Persons with Disabilities and help acknowledge the businesses in our communities that are leading the way in providing inclusive environments and removing barriers for those individuals currently facing physical exclusion and living in isolation.
We will be putting out a call for nominations along with criteria for qualifying shortly after Labor Day.
