Calling for a Canadians with Disabilities Act

Barrier-Free Canada/Canada Sans Barrieres is a non-partisan community coalition of individuals and organizations advocating for the enactment of a Canadians with Disabilities Act. During the federal election, we’ve been using social media and grassroots advocacy to call on all parties to commit to enacting federal disability legislation. With your help, we can let every candidate across the country know that voters are calling for a Canadians with Disabilities Act.

We know that disability affects nearly all Canadians. Either someone you care about has a disability, or you yourself have one, or you will acquire one eventually. Even though we’re all touched in some way by disability, Canadians with disabilities face constant barriers that prevent them from leading the lives they want. Many of these barriers come under federal responsibility. That’s why we’re calling on whoever forms the next federal government to enact a Canadians with Disabilities Act.
