Wendy’s Touch Screen Trauma – Blind Customers Are Being Denied

I’ll let you decide for yourself!

Shocker or Shaker?

For me, no shocker and no shaker!

Simply sadness and disappointment and I am calling out the Wendy’s restaurant at Victoria and Shepard In Toronto for their total lack of disrespect, condescension and a grave faux pax when it comes to accommodating the needs and requirements of those who are blind and vision impaired and those who are unable to interact with a touch screen.

No, I was not surprised when my friend and I decided to dine at this particular Wendy’s restaurant.

We ordered our meal but when it came to choosing my beverage of choice my friend quietly informed me that I had to use a touch screen to choose my beverage.

No way for me to independently make my choice and she had to assist me!

How many times or for how long will Canadians with disabilities need to be speaking out, speaking up, and identifying these restaurants that shamefully neglect to consider their needs and requirements?

It is not just persons with disabilities but seniors who are unable to interact and what I call the technically shy!

These are the consumers whose rights are being denied and trampled upon.

Who are being discriminated against because there is no accommodation or alternative to a touch screen!

Dare I ask then this question:  Is it that restaurants like Wendy’s really do not think that a blind/vision impaired person goes out to dine at restaurants?

Or maybe they simply have forgotten or maybe they just do not care?

I’ll let you be the judge.

Just my two cents for today.
