A Message From The President of Barrier-Free Canada/Canada Sans Barrieres (BFC/CSB)

Barrier Free Canada Logo. Image of a light blue maple leaf with a white diagonal section of the leaf missing, giving the appearance of a circle with a line through it that bans what is on the inside. This maple leaf is intended to ban inaccessibility. To the right of the light blue maple leaf are the words, 'Barrier Free Canada' and 'Sans Barriere Canada'. Welcome to Barrier Free Canada.

Dear Barrier Free Canada Readers:

Spring has finally begun and the board of directors of BFC hopes you are all ready to begin the spring and summer season in full force.

Advocacy is always needed along with provincial and federal legislation. Our role as educators never done. Most people assume the barriers faced by people living with disabilities are access that is physical in nature.

What is still not appreciated is the fact that so many people have little access due to attitude barriers by those who see more disability than ability.

We at BFC encourage you to take every opportunity to educate service providers and government departments so that they will change their minds and do the right thing to bring access to everyone.

Please let us know of your advocacy efforts.

Sincerely,

Penny Leclair, President
Barrier-Free Canada / Canada Sans Barrieres (BFC/CSB)
